Panama City, Fla. -- The top-ranked softball team finished third in the Silver Bracket at the NFCA Leadoff Classic after defeating Babson 10-1 in five innings. Junior shortstop Erica Cutspec (Fort Plain/Fort Plain) led off the game with a solo homer and scored three runs to help the Bombers improve to 4-2 on the season.
Ithaca broke the game open with six runs in the top of the second inning, including a two-RBI double from senior catcher
Hannah Shalett (Shepaug Valley/Bridgewater, Conn.). The Bombers tacked on three more runs in the fourth on a two-RBI double by junior pitcher
Nicole Cade (Beaverton/Portland, Ore.) and a wild pitch to take a 10-0 lead. The Beavers (3-3) got on the board with a run in the bottom of the fourth for the 10-1 final.
Cade held Babson to just three hits over four innings to record her second win of the season. She was also one-for-two at the plate with two RBI and one run scored. Senior outfielder

The Bombers return to action Wednesday at the Rebel Games in Kissimmee, Fla. Ithaca will face Lake Forrest at 11 a.m. and #29 Central (Iowa) at 3 p.m.
